My name is Ryan
Sheppard and I don’t care about Christmas. I’m only returning to my
over-the-top Christmas-themed hometown to sell the house I inherited
from my late uncle so I can get back to the city and the promotion I’m
chasing at work.
Unfortunately, there’s a flaw in my plan.
Because
according to the town Christmas cop, there’s a moratorium on selling
houses during December. She says it’s bad for the aesthetic. She’s also
slapping an alarming number of tickets on my front door. For being in
violation of holiday décor. And I swear on Rudolph himself, one is for
‘unsportsmanlike Christmassing.’
To top it all off, this Christmas cop looks like a red-headed elf.
A sexy red-headed elf…

This is the first novella in the continuing series of novellas set in Reindeer Falls, the small town that focuses on Christmas year around. Ryan Sheppard and his brothers are back in town after their uncle died. Each brother was left something in the will that requires a trip to Reindeer Falls. Ryan received his uncle’s house. Ryan is a big deal architect and has no desire to maintain the house or return to Reindeer Falls. He wants the house on the market and sold as soon as possible.
Maggie is relatively new to Reindeer Falls thanks to her good friends, and college alumnae Lexi and Sutton. Maggie’s childhood memories of Christmas are not happy, so she takes her seasonal position of Christmas enforcer seriously. Ryan could care less about decorating his house. He wants to sell and ignores the summons that Maggie posts on his door daily. Surprise, surprise, Maggie’s real job is the local realtor, and she doesn’t sell houses during the holidays. Ryan is stuck.
I enjoyed this little Christmas story. Maggie and Ryan butt heads about everything Christmas. They are also attracted to each other from their first meeting. The banter between the two characters is funny and kept me engaged. I also like the support characters, Lexi and Sutton. The friend times were sweet and supportive. Elves with Benefits is a supper quick holiday read. I enjoyed the story, although I did like the first three books in the series a little better.

My name is Jake Sheppard
and I’m ambivalent about Christmas and the Christmas-themed town I grew
up in. But when I find out my late uncle left me an old barn and acres
of land, the decision to return home to build my dream golf course is an
easy one.
Imagine my surprise when I arrive and find out I have a squatter.
An incredibly sexy squatter, with wavy blonde hair, green eyes, a free spirit… and a herd of goats.
Sutton hates my guts. Apparently evicting a non-paying non-tenant and her goats weeks before Christmas is grounds for war.
Except
Sutton's version of war includes flinging her clothing at me and, as it
turns out, I might be in way over my head with this girl…

Jake Sheppard returns to Reindeer Falls when his uncle leaves him the barn and acres of farmland. He has big plans to turn the land into a golf course then he runs into Sutton. Sutton is squatting on the land with her goats, an Airstream she calls Ariel, and a soap making business. Jake’s lawyer claws come out and immediately gives her an eviction notice. Sutton will not take the eviction notice without a fight and the Christmas fun begins.
One Night with a Nutcracker is the second book in Aston’s 2021 return to Reindeer Falls series. Jana uses her wit and romantic heart to bring Jake and Sutton to life in this magical Christmas town. I love this over-the-top romantic comedy adventure; it is nothing but fun and romance. I laughed and cheered for Jake and Sutton from beginning to end. The big city attorney meets his match, and events like the goats eating his $800 shoes is a hoot. One Night with a Nutcracker is my favorite of this second group of novellas.
What fun! These are quick reads that will help put you in the Christmas spirit In addition they are all on Kindle Unlimited which is great for the holiday pocketbook.

The Bachelor on the Shelf is the last book in the series (as far as we know). Carter Sheppard drew the short straw in his uncle’s bequeath. He inherited the dog. What is a big-time, professional baseball player going to do with a dog? When he arrives in Reindeer Falls, Carter also finds out that he is in trouble. One of his “Sheppoes” posted a picture of his naked backside on her twitter feed. His reputation and these hijinks are putting his big endorsement deal on the line. His solution is to get Lexi, the town librarian, and the caretaker of the Rudy, to pose as his fake fiancé. She agrees when Carter promises that he will give her Rudy when their deal is done. Lexi, the animal lover can’t refuse.
Like the other books in the series, you will find yourself chuckling or laughing out loud at the shenanigans. There is a super cute scene with Lexi coming up with an idea for sexy underwear, when she doesn’t own any. This story was my least favorite of the series, but there were some good times too. The best part is the epilogue which wraps up 2021 nicely. I do love Jana’s sense of humor. If you like holiday theme stories, this series is guaranteed to put you in the spirit.
