Miles Stephens is a young actor from London. Out of work, unemployable, and fired from his last job, he unexpectedly gets the chance to star in a big-time Hollywood movie.
The film is a great success, propelling him to worldwide fame – but when the dream doesn’t match the reality, he turns to Clare, lifelong friend and girl next door.
Clare knows two important facts: when you break chocolate, the calories fall out; and that she’s totally in love with clueless Miles.
One of the things I love the most about this book is that Miles is real, he is a real guy with hopes and dreams but he also has his own issues and one in particular that I can relate to. Miles is dyslexic and being partially dyslexic myself I can relate to his fears, his struggles and his determination to over come this and going after his dream which is to be a successful actor.
Miles has by his side Clare, she is his best friend in the whole world they have been friends forever, their families are friends and they have grown up and gone through everything side by side. Clare helps him through not only his lines but life. Clare is there to help, comfort and encourages him throughout his early years and now in obtaining his dreams.
The story is based just outside London and it was refreshing to read. The fact that Jane is also from just outside London as well helps as all the terminology I can understand. It is just so nice to read something that is not based solely in USA.
Miles gets the opportunity of a lifetime and moves to Hollywood to fulfil his dream in being a recognised actor in America. Miles does ask Clare to go along for support and advice which she gladly does. Clare would go anywhere Miles asks her.
This story has ups and downs and at times I did want to shout at my kindle for Miles to get a clue but he is a typical man who does not know what is under his nose until it is too late. Miles has always been under the impression that he and Clare love each other as friends, however, Clare has a deeper feeling for Miles than she wants to let on. She is waiting on him taking the initiative, however, it never seems to be the right time for either of them.
Miles has a co-star in America who is dying to get into his pants (boxer shorts), she is skinny, fake in everyway and a real Bitch and I hated her. She is also threatened by Clare's connection with Miles and makes it known.
I love this from Clare :-"In what universe was it fair that she got to have him? Just because she was beautiful and talented? Was I so awful? So hideous that he would never choose me? What if I wore a paperbag? What was wrong with me"
Miles himself has to go through some tough heart wrenching moments while in America. Decisions have to be made by only him once Clare has gone back home to School. My heart kept breaking through this book. I felt the pain Clare went through knowing that Miles only thought of her as a good friend and the anguish that Miles went through struggling with everyday life and his new adventure in America.
Miles is clueless as to Clare's feelings and yes you will want to shout them to him I did frequently LOL
"Aw, you love me really." I said, wrapping my arms around his waist, and planting a squeaky kiss on his cheek.
"Nah," he said. "You're more like a bad habit."
He was joking. I knew he was joking. But I wanted to cry."

Can they both deal with the changes that will come their way?
Reading Clare's POV is very emotional for me, I felt it, every word in my heart and I hope you will all do the same.
I could write so much of these two in this amazing book but you have to read it for yourselves and draw your own conclusions but I hope you will all agree with me. This is a book you will read in a weekend, I did, it is a great book to snuggle up on the sofa with and just enjoy.
As I finish my review I wanted to leave you this. Clare and Miles are friends all the way through this book, they have been friends for years and if you think romance is going to happen straight away you will be wrong, the build up for these two I felt made it more real, and made you keep reading until you get to the end just to see "Do they or Don't they" get together. Yes there is sexual tension all the way through this book but how these two deal with that is brilliant writing.
This book is MUST read for everyone you will truly love it all.
I started writing contemporary
romance two years ago. Before that, I didn’t think I could write a sex scene.
Turns out I can!
My lucky number is 13 because I
was born on the 13th and
live near a haunted castle by the ocean. My number one past-time is watching
hot surfers get changed into (and out of) their wetsuits.
My husband doesn’t read my
books. My mother does.
Writing is my love, my hobby,
my total addiction. All my characters are important to me and whisper their
stories, even when I’ve finished writing their books. That’s why you’ll often
find bonus chapters/out-takes from various books, because those voices just
won’t be quiet.
