EXCERPT
“Hey, you,” she murmured.
“Hey, gorgeous,” I said, not knowing what else to call her, feeling foolish that I didn’t know something as important as her name after the intimacy we’d shared but unsure how to ask after so much time had passed.
“Come here,” she demanded softly, and I obliged, setting my cup of coffee down on my bedside table first and then taking off my basketball shorts. I pulled her into me, my arm under her head as she cuddled into my shoulder and threw her arm around my waist. Somehow her small body molded perfectly to mine. I lazily drew circles on her lower back with my thumb, idly thinking that my most favorite part of a woman’s body were the little dimples on her back right above her ass. And the woman sharing my bed had the singular most perfect back and ass I had ever seen in my life.
“Mm. That feels like heaven,” she said, so I kept doing it.
She looked up at me, and I recognized that same look from the night before. She wanted it.
“Again?” I asked, exhausted from our physical night together.
“If you’re up for it.”
I pushed my erection into her hip. “What do you think?” I grinned at her. She pressed a kiss to my chest, and in that moment I knew I had to find a way to hold onto her.
Moving lightning fast, I scooped her up and then threw her down, pinning her to the bed beneath me. I grabbed both of her hands in mine and held them above her head, and then I licked my way down her neck to her breast. I suckled for a moment, savoring the pretty pink tip in my mouth, and then I kissed my way back up to her mouth. She kissed back, that same abandon evident in her, inhibitions apparently checked at the door.
I don’t think I had ever been so hard for a woman in my entire life. It was painful, and I needed to alleviate the pressure by being inside of her warmth.
So I did.
I let go of her hands, and they were immediately on me, one tangled in my hair and the other pulling my ass toward her. I let my erection lay heavy against her entrance for a moment as I kissed her, the soft moans escaping her mouth spurring me on. I gazed down into her dark eyes and saw lust. And something else.
Something that told me that she was into me as more than a no strings attached type thing.

THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY
In fact, I didn’t even let my husband read anything I wrote.
Then fate stepped in and some important things happened at once. I asked my husband if he would read one of my books – a different series that is as yet unpublished. I knew I had to suck it up and get over being shy or nervous, because the more I read that story, the more I thought it was pretty good. I thought that, at the very least, it rivaled some of the freebies I had found on the What to Read after Fifty Shades of Grey and Korner Kafe Exposed Facebook pages. Around the same time, my husband was listening to AM radio on his long drive home when he was working out of town, and he heard an interview with a self-published author who spoke about publishing on Amazon. So he played the interview for me, I read up on Amazon, and my husband encouraged me to give the self-publishing thing a try – sort of like an experiment. We both thought, what’s the worst that could happen? No one would read my book? Even if no one read it, at least I still gave it a shot. And if someone read it and liked it, maybe I could turn my dream of publishing some of the many stories I’ve written over the years into a reality.
I chose to publish How He Really Feels as my experimental book. I started writing this story about fifteen years ago (on a yellow legal pad… which at some point I typed). Back in December 2012, I opened up my Word Document to see what it looked like. It was 36 pages (somewhere around 37,000 words), and it was the basic story but with very little detail. I still have it saved that way. So I took the story and played with it, adding detail and description and scenes from December until April, and I ended up with the final published product you see today. It worked for me as a standalone. Because I was too shy to share my writing with anyone, I just hit PUBLISH and waited to see what happened. I sold a couple of books the day it went live, and I was already excited. I messaged the What to Read after Fifty Shades of Grey and Korner Kafe Exposed Facebook pages and asked if they would promote my book, and both did. And then the sales increased... so I owe a huge debt of thanks to Summer and Kim over at their awesome pages. Once the reviews started rolling in, I saw that people needed more story. They needed to know what happened to Travis.

So here we are. Book #2 has been published. And, oddly, What He Really Feels never would have been written if it weren’t for reader reviews. I myself had never written a review until I published my first book. Now as an actual published author who is seeing her dreams come true, I realize how much authors rely on reader reviews – and for more than one reason. For one, it helps point out both strengths and weaknesses. But more importantly, your reviews help spread the books of indie authors like me! So my point is this: THANK YOU to all of you who write reviews!
