Eleven years ago,
Lindsey Nash escaped into the night with her young daughter and left an
abusive relationship. Her ex-husband, Andrew, was sent to jail and
Lindsey started over with a new life.
Now, Lindsey is older and
wiser, with her own business and a teenage daughter who needs her more
than ever. When Andrew is finally released from prison, Lindsey believes
she has cut all ties and left the past behind her. But she gets the
sense that someone is watching her, tracking her every move. Her new
boyfriend is threatened. Her home is invaded, and her daughter is
shadowed. Lindsey is convinced it's her ex-husband, even though he
claims he's a different person. But has he really changed? Is the one
who wants her dead closer to home than she thought?
Sometimes I run into a book that totally surprises me. Never Let You Go
surprised the heck out of me. Lindsey Nash lived a horrid life with her
abusive husband until he was arrested. After eleven years, she finally
got away and started over with her daughter and a new life. She is even
stepping into the dating pool. Suddenly she finds messages that she
believes are from Andrew, her ex. Lindsey is sure someone was in her
house. She goes to the police, but they can’t find any indication that
her ex is around.
This is what I call a slow-burn
mystery/thriller. The book begins with some history of Lindsey and
Andrews’s relationship. The author then brings the reader to the present
day to show how far Lindsey has come in her recovery. Lindsey and
Sophie, her daughter, are happy. The author returns to the past as
little things trigger memories for Lindsey. These flashbacks are
well-done and kept me glued to the story.
I did not see the
ending at all. I’m not the best when it comes to guessing the outcome.
Typically, I follow a lot of red herrings that many of my friends
ignore. However, Chevy Stevens didn’t make me question the path I was on
for a second. She kept me on the edge of my seat and shocked me to the
bones. I didn’t have a clue where the author was going to take this
story. It is a great domestic thriller that kept me entertained from
beginning to end. I highly recommend this thriller.
