Reid Murray a valued
employee for Sterling Sparrow, the man who runs the Chicago Underworld- Reid is
a genius with Technology and tends to stay with this line of work for Sterling
Sparrow. There is nothing Reid cannot
find out for anyone.
Lorna Murray. Lorna is married to Reid and is the sister of
Mason who both work for Sterling Sparrow.
She was recently kidnapped by accident and when it came out it was
discovered the captors wanted Mason’s wife Lauren. Lorna went through a
horrific ordeal due to these captors.
Although Reid and Lorna have been married now
for some years, there is still a very protectiveness that Reid has for his wife
due to what she has previously endured.

Dusk, the first book centred more on Lorna’s abduction and her being held
hostage with Sterling’s wife Araneae.
This book concentrated on what happened after they were returned to the
Sparrow world. I must warn you though that this book does deal with a lot of
symptoms Lorna has after the abduction and the abuse she was subjected to as a
small girl. There is a lot of detail
about the sexual abuse she was subjected to.
Lorna suffers from a lot of flash backs, but the memory loss Lorna had after
the abduction is dealt with and poor Reid, he just wants to hunt down the
people who hurt his wife and kill them but that is the last thing Lorna wants,
she just wants her husband to be with her.
Lorna just wants to feel safe again.
The flash backs give you a sense of what Lorna went through and although
this is fiction it made me understand what people may have felt having gone
through abusive behaviour themselves.
This book will make you read about subjects that
society does not always want to talk about or bring up and that is one thing I
like about these books. They deal with
real issues. I applaud Aleatha for dealing with these issues and bringing
things like this to light, not many authors would.
If you have read Dusk you will love Dark, it
just follows on seamlessly and gives your more of a sense of what happened and
how things transpired.
