At every stop, we’d pick up souvenirs.
But as hot as our chemistry was, we never crossed the line.
Milo knew I’d just come out of a tough relationship and didn’t want to mess with
a vulnerable woman.
So instead, at the end of our trip, we made a pact to meet again in three
months.
It was always my intention to meet him.
But when I got back home, reality hit in a big way.
And I worried I may have lost my handsome stranger forever.
Was there a place for him in my future?
Or had the memory of him just become my favorite souvenir?

Hazel went on her honeymoon alone after he fiancé called off the wedding at the last minute. Why waste a trip to Colorado. Unfortunately, she was only there a few days, and felt miserable so she checked out. By the time she got to the airport, her flight cancelled due to the blizzard moving in to the area. Her hotel room was already booked, and there wasn’t a room open anywhere in Vail.

While Hazel was sitting in a hotel lobby, she watched a young man eavesdropping on the desk clerks conversations confirming reservations. A few minutes later, the young man announced to the desk clerk that he was Milo Hooker ready to check in. Knowing he lied, Hazel walked up next to him, and said she is his sister Maddie Hooker also here to check in. Now the adventure begins. As the faux Maddie and Milo spend a couple days together in Vail, they realize they want to continue their adventure and head out on a road trip.

My Favorite Souvenir is the newest book from one of my favorite writing duos, Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. They pulled me right into the book with the unusual meet. Part one is Milo and Maddie getting to know each other. Throughout this section, they stay in character, as a brother and sister traveling together, always staying in separate rooms. I love their adventure. There are fun and funny times that made me laugh and have those warm and fuzzy feelings. I loved, loved, loved part one.

Part Two Milo and Maddie returned to the real-life of Hazel Appleton and Matteo Duncan. The first few chapters of this section turned me off. With the flip of a page, I didn’t like Maddie/Hazel anymore. I expected that Hazel would have issues to address and anticipated the conflict. It was the way she handled her "new life" that frustrated me. Milo/Matteo knew she had decisions too. He wasn't sure what was going to happen when they parted.

Her change into a wishy-washy, spineless character that floored me. I did not like Brady, Hazel’s ex from part one. I like him even less in this section, especially as we learn more about him and his character. I absolutely hate Hazel’s best friend, Felicity. She doesn’t support Hazel, or help her look at the situation realistically. The only character that I love, at this point is Matteo.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I would love more Milo/Maddie time. I put the book down several times from chapter fifteen to twenty-three. These chapters progressed slowly for me, mainly because of my anger brewing. Watching Matteo suffer was heartbreaking. I believe the goal is to show how different Hazel is when Brady is around, but it did not work for me. I was so angry that I couldn’t concentrate on the story.

The story ends on a super high that redeems Hazel and the story for me. I recommend My Favorite Souvenir for Part One is fabulous. Part two has a little hiccup in my opinion, although the character and her actions are believable. Matteo alone is worth your reading time as well as the last few chapters.
