I am a big fan of series that
follow a family or group over several books.
These series focus on an individual or couple
in the book, and then successive books
have updates on the prior folks while giving more information on the focus
couple. Swink by Adriana Locke is
a book in the Landry series featuring Camilla Landry.
In Swink, Camilla Landry is
having a secret relationship with Dominic Hughes. She is keeping the secret from her older brothers
because they try to control her life. The
men in the family take their protectiveness to the extreme making Camilla (Cam)
do what everyone else wants and little that she
wants. Her only ally is Sienna, her
twin.
Dominic Hughes doesn’t care to
meet her family. He knows this
relationship can’t last because Camilla is a wealthy, society girl and he is
not. Dom lives
from paycheck to paycheck and comes with a
dark history. He is hot,
hot, hot, loyal, and secretly imagines a life with this woman even though he doesn’t
know how a relationship will work.
Camilla and Dominic meet when he
comes to her house to repair her air conditioner. They start with a lusty hook-up that grows
into more. Without a doubt, I could feel
the depth of emotion throughout the story.
Both Camilla and Dominic are afraid to admit their feelings because neither
one wants to scare the other away but
they need to protect their heart. Camilla
can see all the good in Dominic’s soul
that Dom can’t see or won’t acknowledge.
The story is written in
alternating points of view that allow the reader into Cam’s and Dom’s thought
process. It
is refreshing to have the female character as the wealthy person and the male
character trying to fit in to the family.
There are so many books with millionaire men and the struggling female
scenarios. The journey for this couple isn’t easy but it is a perfect read from start to
finish. Swink sucked me in-to the Landry’s world. The family theme, friendships, and overcoming
obstacles makes this a book you don’t want to end. It is a big favorite for me.
Swink by Adriana Locke is the final book in the Landry Family series. While Swink’s focus is Camilla Landry and
Dominic Hughes the other members of the Landry family make enough of an
appearance that I am very interested in their stories. I will buy the other books in this series
because I want to know more about the family.
I am also ready to read the next series, Gibson Boys. I hope Ms. Locke will give us more Nate and
Joy in the future too. What great
characters!
