*** REVIEW *** NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS by Kim Knight

In Not Just For Christmas readers are taken on a romantic journey set in London, during the festive season, following two characters originally opposed to each other fall in love, with a enough warmth and sensuality to keep readers warm at any time of year.

As Christmas draws near thirty-five-year-old social worker Ava Green, finds herself desperate to not be alone at her favorite time of year. Following the break- up of her engagement to her ex earlier in the year, Ava has spent ten months on a mission to get over her ex. With the support of her two of her closest girlfriends Tasha and Marie, Ava makes a bold move which surprises her girlfriends in order to find a companion for the festive season. Ava’s path crosses with tall dark and handsome Detective Jerome Samuels, a forty-five-year-old divorcee also in search of love. Once their paths cross after a few bumps along the way there’s no turning back, these two characters are caught up in a whirlwind of sensual and heart –warming romance, that Detective Jerome Samuels hopes is not just for Christmas, he’s on a mission to claim his lady Ava.

I am addicted to everything Christmas, songs, movies, decorations and Christmas theme novellas.  Not Just For Christmas is my latest addition to my collection.

I love everything about this story, the characters stole my heart.  I can see this whole scenario playing out in real life.  Christmas is just around the corner and Ava Green is tired of being alone.  Talking about her dilemma with her friends they agree an ad in the personals for a holiday companion is a good idea….and if there is sex all the better.  No long-term commitments just a fun holiday.

Ava works in Child Protection Services.  She loves her job except for the hot, egotistical Detective Jerome Samuels.  He rarely has a kind word and all the women fall all over him.  Guess who responds to her ad?

There is so much story packed in this little novella.  It is fast paced and you will devour the story at one sitting.  I am a big fan that both main characters are older.  It reminds us that even men and women not in their twenties are often looking for love.  Ava is thirty-five and Jerome is forty-five both characters are successful in their careers but not so much in their personal life.  Detective Samuels was married for a long time before his marriage falls apart.  Both Ava and Jerome are tired of the single life but don’t find a decent companion in the traditional dating methods.

Ava has some funny and disastrous first dates.  It reminds me of a couple friends who come back to the dating scene after years of being in a relationship.  I feel for her.  Jerome, on the other hand, has women throwing themselves at him, except for Ava.  Ava is always professional but somewhat leery around this man.

Even though this story plays out during the holiday season it is more than a holiday book.  It can be read anytime of the year and it will make the reader happy and believe in love.  A must read.
