Blurb
He had it all. He lost it all. And all he wants now is a second chance.
RK Saber ran from tragedy five years ago when his car went over the side of a mountain in a prom-night crash. Consumed by guilt, he walked away from Juilliard and morphed into Rock, front man for the global rock-band sensation, Son of a Jack. Five members. Five best friends. Five rising stars burning so bright, they had to know it couldn’t last.
When tragedy strikes again and the band goes from five to two, RK is sentenced to… home. Back to the place where all his nightmares started. Back to the memory of all the things he lost. Back to the reality he refused to face before he left.
The Vetti twins were identical in all ways but two. Melanie was insane and Melissa was not. One twin was killed on prom night five years ago and one twin was not. And now that RK has returned home, the twin left standing has quite a story to tell. Could she really be the girl he thought he’d lost forever? Or is Melanie just up to her same old tricks?

Why I like audio books---
About ninety-eight percent of my audio books are books that I own in hard copy or e-book format. If I love a book, or a story touches me deeply, I like to re-read it. Sometimes I only read the sections that make my heart sing or show the main character’s growth and struggles and sometimes I need to read the entire book from cover to cover. However, my reading time of late tends to be packed solid with books that I am committed to reading and posting a review on this blog. Audio books give me the option to relive a story I love in another format. I can use the times when I can’t focus on the printed word but I can listen. For example when I’m driving, working, cooking, etc. Audio books fill these times with the characters that I love.
If you read my reviews you know I buy every book J.A. Huss releases. I love the way she tells a story. Her words blend in a way that makes every event and emotion jump off the page into my heart and works my imagination. My mind works overtime conjuring up a picture of the people, places, and events that take place from cover to cover.
Her stories flow so smoothly that I believe, without question, everything about her characters, what they are doing, what they feel, and even what happens after “The End” appears. So it goes without saying that I am overjoyed as she continues to release her books in audio format. I’m gobbling them up.
Rock is the latest JA Huss book audio format, and it is an absolute must buy. I love every minute I spend listening to this story. Rock is one of her stories that makes my stomach jump, my mind spin, while my heart flutters and even breaks a little. It is also a book on my re-read list (all of her books are on my re-read list) when the mood strikes.
Now that I have the audio, I know I will replay it many times; even knowing the ending, the story is emotional. It is funny how the tension builds as the story unfolds like it is my first time experiencing this adventure. I listen and wonder if there will be another twist or something I missed before. Even though I know the twist, I still grip the steering wheel or the pot handle when I listen.
As soon as the announcer says “this is audible” I drop right back into the world of Rock. Sebastian York gives a phenomenal performance as narrator. He makes me feel like Rock/RK is sitting next to me sharing his rock star journey. I am instantly transformed into a wannabe groupie. York’s voice is dreamy and adds another level to RKs good and bad times, and the way he uses his voice gives me a different perspective on parts of the story.
The book is well written with interesting characters, tense drama, hot sex and perfectly paced action. The way the story unfolds there are times when you don’t know the good guys from the bad guys. Add to this solid foundation the narration of Sebastian York who has an emotional voice and spot on breath management; you can’t go wrong with this audiobook.
So, to answer the question: Why do I love audiobooks? Because they drop me deep into the fictional worlds that I love while I continue with my everyday life. Audiobooks are an excellent investment and very reasonably priced when purchased as a companion to an e-book. I will continue expanding my audio library and recommend that you consider doing the same, especially with Ms. Huss' books.
