Dirty Sexy Cuffed is the third book in the Dirty Sexy series by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. It can be read as a standalone. Honestly, this is the first book I’ve read in the series and didn’t feel lost in the story at all. In fact, there is just enough information about Clay and Mason to make me want to get their back story (and I will) but Dirty Sexy Cuffed stands on its own. If you, like me, enjoy reading books about hot brothers, you will like this book.

Dirty Sexy Cuffed is the story of Sarah Robins and Levi Kincaid, the youngest brother of the Kincaid clan. Both of these characters come from really tough and traumatic childhoods. Both of them hold a lot of bad memories and hurt that they must work through and resolve.

In some ways Levi is moving past his rough beginnings. He is a Chicago police officer with good friends, a solid relationship with his brothers, and a home. The only obvious residual from his past is the inability to have long-term relationships with a woman. Levi finds women who are happy with his dominant, controlling needs but he doesn’t pick women who want anything more than sex.

Sarah is still suffering from her past. She doesn’t trust people. She is only a step above homeless, working at a minimum wage job, and on the run. As tough as her life is Sarah isn’t defeated. She is smart and has a good heart. Unfortunately, life is still kicking her in the gut. Levi is working hard to get her to agree to date, something very out of character for him and very flattering for Sarah.

Dirty Sexy Cuffed is a really good book for a lazy afternoon. It is a fast read, a fast paced story with characters that you care about from the first page. Levi reveals things about his childhood to Sarah that he hadn’t even shared with his brothers. His story is touching and I love his close relationship with his brothers. Sarah’s young life was gut wrenching. It breaks my heart when she reveals her backstory to Levi and I love the way Levi relates to her.

My only negative thought about the story is that Sarah’s problem is resolved to easily and not the way I expect a police officer to deal with the situation. That is a hand-wave for me accompanied with an eye roll. It feels like a few more paragraphs are needed to make it completely believable but I like the couple and what they offer each other.

I like the Kincaids. I really like Sarah. I like the Chicago setting and I want more. A good read.
