I have read a few books by J.C Reed now and
each time I just love how she writes and her twists and turns and the fact she
keeps you on your toes. This book is no
different.
In this book, you not only get sexy characters
and charisma, you get fun, laughter, determination and romance.
Ava is a determined woman journalist, she has her own confidence and knows what
she wants, and she has also been hurt in the past and does not want to go down
that road again. She is loyal to her
best friend Mandy which can sometimes be her downfall.
While driving her friend to club 69 she has a
bump with a mysterious arrogant man driving a very expensive car. He dings her car but he blames her for
crashing into him. After a heated
discussion Ava heads onto her place of work, unfortunately she cannot get the
mystery man out of her head.
We just forward 2 months where Ava and her best
friend Mandy are heading to a concert by Mandy’s favourite band Mile High. On route to the concert a storm hits while they
are going cross country or in Mandy’s words “A short cut”. After a near miss with a tree they end up
broken down and having to seek refuge in a nearby house. Unknown to Ava that this house is where the
mystery man lives.
When she meets Kellan Boyd
(Mystery Man) she cannot believe her eyes or ears. Talk about obnoxious.
Kellan is sexy and basically
drop dead gorgeous but he has some ego and thinks he is god’s gift to woman and
immediately Ava’s defences go up, she wants nothing more to do with him.
Kellan makes it known that he is so into Ava and really wants to have her in
his bed.
There is some mystery still behind Kellan, he
is very cagy about who he is and what he does and it not only adds to the story
but it keeps you constantly guessing what he is hiding.
The big question is will Kellan be able to put
the charm on and entice Ava or is she truly immune to his charms?
I can’t say to much
as I don’t want to spoil this great story for everyone else.
