Synopsis: Falling for a con man is the most dangerous game of all… Con artist Austin Shaw’s been in disguise so long he’s not sure where his fake identities end and he begins. Now that he’s been strong-armed into working for a specialized undercover unit working with the Chicago police—criminals with unique “skills”—the last thing he needs is to risk his iron control. Especially when it comes to a certain stunningly sexy hacker who tempts him with every look of disdain. Polly Banks will never, ever trust a con man. On the trail of a ruthless crook who destroyed the only family she’s ever known, Polly is unnerved by the shadow who follows her every move. The one who makes her pulse pound and breath short with lust. Austin. He’s infuriating, enigmatic, and pure sex appeal, and she’s determined to resist him. But an untrustworthy man of disguise can become anyone he wants…including a man that Polly must trust if she’s to escape their dangerous game alive.
I don’t know why
this is the first book I’ve read by Tessa Bailey.  I have several of her books on my Kindle as
we speak but for some reason I didn’t get to them, however, after reading Boiling
Point that error will certainly be rectified.
I have to note that this is book
three in the series.  There are two
established couples that I didn’t know anything about their back story because
I haven’t read the other two books.  (I
did buy them as soon as I finished this one.)
That said I didn’t have any problem reading Boiling Point as a
standalone.  I didn’t feel lost or
cheated at all.
The writing is excellent and the
story draws you in right for the start.  I
found my eyes glued to the Kindle and I couldn’t put it down for anything.  From the start I need to know what makes
these characters tick and will they get their act together and have a
relationship or will they continually distrust one another.
The hero, Austin Shaw is a
mysterious character.  He is a con
man.  He can pull the wool over a mark’s
eyes without a minutes thought and take them for all they are worth.  He is a man who is adept at changing appearances
and personalities.  One day he is a
wealthy business man the next a Russian mobster.  He has a gift of never being the same person
for too long but just long enough to get what he wants.  As cruel as his actions are this man suffers
from his bad deeds.  He suffers in
silence and never lets anyone in.  He
never wants anyone to know the man beneath the disguise.  He suffers but it is so hidden that the people
around him tend to hate him because he doesn’t let anyone see his pain—until Polly
Banks comes on the scene.
Polly Banks is my favorite kind
of heroine.  She is strong.  She takes the bull by the horns and gets done
what needs to be done on her own.  She
doesn’t trust anyone to right any wrongs done to her and her family.  She was raised by her two fathers who adopted
her when she had nothing and no one.
These two men who loved her when she needed it lost everything to a con
man.  It is no surprise with her history
that she absolutely hates Austin Shaw.  How
will she get past her issues and accept the help he offers?
The chemistry between the two
main characters is boiling.  There is a
constant pull/push with Austin mostly the puller and Polly the pusher.  However, even though Polly pushes it is more
to stay focused on her personal mission.
She is afraid that Austin will distract her from her goal.
I like the support characters
and, as I said earlier, I immediately purchased the other books in the series
so I can understand them better.  This
group is a fantastic but unusual group of convicts working together on the
right side of the law.  I love them all
and as devious as they can be individually together they are a force to reckon with.  I love the little community they create and regardless
of their criminal records they are loyal to the group.  There is enough suspense as Polly, Austin,
and the team work together on her mission to keep the pages turning.
Austin is hot and knows how to
talk dirty.  A+ in that area. My only
criticism, though mild, is the D/s relationship.  I don’t have a problem with an alpha
submissive male; I’ve read some great books with this relationship, but for me,
there are a couple times that I didn’t feel that the need is a real for Austin.  It feels like another con he is pulling
off.  It is possible that this is by the
author’s design and the reader has to work through the same trepidation that
Polly is going through.  If that is the
case it is a success.
So in summary, I like Boiling
Point.  I recommend it.  I like it enough to buy more books by Ms.
Bailey and to read the ones that I have as they are calling to me—loudly.  Tessa Baily knows how to write and make the
reader want more.  Great job!
