On the night she discovers her ex’s engagement, Rachel meets Landon, the most attractive man she has ever seen, who, for some reason, mistakes her for a hooker. However, he’s so sexy. And it’s just one night… What harm can there be in giving in to the desire to lose herself in his touch? She’s never going to see him again, even though he has given her the most intensely pleasurable night of her life.
Landon prefers his women beautiful and sophisticated, with no desire for commitment, so when his brother ignores his protests and sends him a hooker on his birthday, he’s surprised at how willing he is to continue paying for her services. It should be easy, except she’s no hooker, and she has no intention of letting him into her life.
However, as the billionaire owner of the Swanson Court hotels, Landon is used to getting what he wants, and Rachel is not going to be an exception.
I received book one and two of this series for review and
book three is now available for purchase.
This adds up to my perfect scenario if an author pulls me into a series
especially when cliff hangers are involved.
These are the first books I read by Serena Grey. I like her writing style. For the most part her story flows smoothly
and holds the reader’s interest throughout the book/series.
Drawn to You, book one in the series, has an interesting
introduction to the heroine and hero.
Rachel Foster is attending a party when her ex, Jack a man she still
loves, walks in with his new girlfriend.
The kicker--Jack is engaged.
Everyone knows this little tidbit except Rachel. Engaged! Just imagine how Rachel feels
because Jack always told her he would never go down that path. To get away from him and the embarrassment she
runs out of the party and ends up in the elevator on the penthouse floor.
Landon Court, the hot, sexy millionaire unlocks the elevator. He thinks Rachel is the hooker birthday gift
from his brother and invites Rachel in. What
the heck! The man before Rachel is hot,
sexy, and presents the promise of a one-night stand. Rachel decides to play the part for one night
in an attempt to get Jack off her mind for a few hours besides this is a gorgeous
hunk standing in front of her.
There is a lot of push and pull among the key players
throughout the book between the hero and heroine. They both felt a connection but Rachel is in
the “I will never get involved again” camp and doesn’t want to get involved.
I like these characters.
- Landon Court is one of those wealthy men with a lot of business acumen, a sad childhood, an excellent brother and protector but he’s not too great in the relationship area.
- Rachel Forester also has relationship issues. She makes bad choices and one of the worst is Jack Weyland. No matter how much he pushes her away she can’t let go.
- Jack is a successful writer who works for the same magazine as Rachel. He doesn’t want Rachel in a relationship but he wants to hold onto her as “a friend” to keep her on the back burner just in case he doesn’t have anyone else. He is a jerk in my opinion.
- Laurie is Rachel cousin and closest friend, confidant, and supporter and, sometimes her conscience.
- Aiden, Landon’s brother is successful, funny and charming.
- Brett is Laurie’s long term boyfriend.
- Evans Sinclair is the “bad” guy so to speak. I’m looking forward to seeing how he plays out in the next books.

ADDICTED TO YOU
Book 2
Rachel and Landon’s story continues in this sequel to Drawn to You.
It was supposed to be just one week, just sex, no commitment, but somewhere along that overwhelmingly sexy ride, Rachel fell in love with Landon. There’s just one problem, he doesn’t do commitment.
As far as Landon knows, they have a good thing going, and he’s not willing to let that go. So Rachel can either tell him how she feels and watch him walk away, or keep it to herself and continue to drown in her feelings for him.
It hurts to be with him, but being without him hurts more. How do you make a choice about love, when there’s really no choice at all?

“Aidan’s
play is opening next week Thursday,” he tells me. “You’ll come, won’t you?”
“As if anything would keep me away,” I reply.
“Ha!” He laughs. “I have to be careful with you around him, so he doesn’t steal you from me.”
I dab my lips with a napkin. “I’m not a possession to be stolen or owned, Mr. Court.”
He raises one perfect brow. “Don’t I know that? You own me, however, and I’m glad to be your possession.”
He looks serious when he says this, and it makes me smile. “You’re so cute when you’re charming.”
“No, I’m charming when I’m charming.”
“Oh!” I raise my brows. “Is that what the women tell you?”
“What women?” He grins. “There’s only one woman. There’s only ever been one woman.” He reaches out and touches the edge of my lip. “And she’s right here.”

Book 2 of the series picks up where Drawn to You leaves
off. Like the first book in the series I
like the story and the characters, however, Rachel has me scratching my head.
As the story continues in Addicted to You I find myself mesmerized by Landon Court. He is everything a woman could want and I see
why women are drawn to him. He struggles
so much with the tragedies of his youth and his personal fears that I want to
give him a hug. I can see that he is
afraid of hurting others and, of being hurt himself.
In book two Ava Sinclair, Evan’s sister and old flame of
Landon Court is introduced to the story.
She plays dirty and stirs up Rachel’s fears and misgivings about a
relationship with Landon. I don’t trust
Ava nor her brother. Trouble is brewing
ahead of that I am sure.
I connect with Laurie.
I get her conflict and concerns about Brett. She is upfront and tells Brett about her worries
while he throws it back in her face. I
want this couple to work out but I’m not sure I completely trust Brett.
My personal criticism at this point: For a good thirty percent of the book I
couldn’t get my head around Rachel’s behavior.
I understand her questions but it takes until the very end of the book
for her to have a serious conversation with Landon even though he opens the
door several times. It is obvious that
Rachel, even though she knows Landon’s history, does things that remind him of
what he dreads the most—continually.
Honestly Rachel’s internal dialogue is off putting. It is the same conversation over and over
again to the point that I didn’t even care after a while. For me this repetition with no follow through
prepared me for Landon to give up on her and more on. The sad thing I really don’t this I would
care. Even Laurie suggested a
conversation with Landon but did Rachel follow through? No!
Rachel is her own worst enemy in this book and feels weak to
me. I am not a fan of weak and whiny heroines. I wanted her to play her hand and say “I love
you Landon now the ball is in your court.”
By the time she does admit her feelings it is anticlimactic, however,
the way it unfolds makes me cheer for her.
As put off as I am with Rachel the book does end on a high
note even if it is a cliffhanger. I am
hooked on the characters and will visit Amazon in the next couple days to
purchase the conclusion. I really want
to know what happens with Laurie and Brett, how the Sinclairs’ are going to
strike, and, most importantly, what will happen with Rachel and Landon.
The pluses far out weight any negatives. I recommend this series.
