***REVIEW*** TAKING FLIGHT by Melinda Sutherland

My name is Kane Donovan. I’m a sex addict, a pilot,
a navigator. A pro at steering clear of the things some men want:

Commitment. Love.

Flying and sex have been my only desires, my escapes.
Well, they were the only things I wanted until everything changed.

When life’s flight plan is diverted I begin to question everything.
Everything I am, everything I feel, and everything I want.

What obstacles change the course of my solo flight?

Is it the ONE I can’t seem to forget?
The ONE I want to forget but can’t escape?
Or the ONE I didn’t think would ever exist?

Can I maneuver through the uncharted course of life?

Or will I do what I do best and continue taking flight alone?

When I was asked to read this book, I did wonder if this was going to be another “Man Tramp” book but I was pleasantly surprised.

Taking Flight pulls you in from the first moment until you put the book down.

Kane Donovan, sexy hot hunk who is never short of lovely ladies loves flying.  Yes he is a “Man Tramp” but what these ladies don’t know is that he actually has a heart that can be broken like anyone else’s, he feels deeply and like most people is searching for that certain someone who will make his life that little bit more real and worthwhile.  What we do get to see though is that Kane has depth, yes he has things he wants to hide, don’t we all but he is so complex you can’t help but want to read and know more about him.

Kane meets Mya and instantly he is attracted to her, there is just something about her that makes him sit up and take notice which shocks the very core of him.  To be honest he cannot believe that he could fall for someone so hard.

There is plenty of chemistry in this book but what I loved the most was that no matter what Melinda has you going through every emotion in this book.  It is not the all lovely dovey book but it has grit and keeps you on this merry-go-round of emotion all the way through and I dare anyone to have a dry eye by the end of this book.

It was in short a joy to read and I would highly recommend this to everyone.  If you are looking for a book you can cosy on the couch with a bar of chocolate, glass of vino and tissues for a good old cry, then get this book immediately.

Melinda lives in a small town just north of Boston with her husband and two boys. She finds inspiration in music, family, friends, and the very supportive indie author community. Melinda very much enjoys reading, writing, blogging, helping other authors, planning author signing events, taking pictures, coffee, wine, anything chocolate, and of course spending time with her family & friends.

Melinda's first book is called Never Say Never which was self-published in 2013. After a severe bout of writers block and anxiety she decided to not push the author life and step back for a little while. During that time she decided she really wanted to continue but it would only be done at her own pace with no outside pressure. Writing and releasing is not a race. It's all about getting the stories out there and hoping someone actually reads and enjoys them.
