*** REVIEW CARTER REED *** Carter Reed by Tijan

Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by her boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

This is my first Tijan book and it absolutely will not be my last.  Carter Reed pulled me into the middle of the chaos of this story and wouldn’t let me go.  I literally could not put the book down once I started reading.    It is a great way to spend a Saturday.

The premise of the story is interesting and often nail biting.  Emma comes home early finding her roommate getting raped.  The rapist is a big guy in more ways than just physically.  Emma’s only option is to kill the attacker and free her roommate.   After thinking about what she did, Emma realizes she can’t go to the police because the attacker is the son of one of the big mob families.   The publicity the police report would generate will start a mob search for Emma.  She knows there isn’t any place  for her to hide.  Emma’s only option is to search out her brother’s best friend Carter Reed--a dangerous man in his own right.

"Tell me what happened." His plea was so soft.

I broke. This wasn't the stranger anymore. This was Carter, the boy I had grown up with. I flung my arms around him and pulled him down. Instead of fighting, I clung to him now.

He wrapped his arms around me and rolled to his side. He patted my back and tucked his head into the crook of my neck and shoulder. I felt his lips brush there as he repeated, "You have to tell me. I won't hurt you. I will protect you."

Carter Reed, the book, like the character is everything a lover of romance and suspense could want.   It kept me on the edge of my seat with my stomach in knots waiting for the other shoe to fall.   Carter and Emma are two very passionate people and their passion for one another jumps off the page.

I love the characters and the way Tijan gradually reveals their strengths and weaknesses.  Carter is a very hot and sexy hero with a lot of secrets but a kind heart where Emma is concerned.  He has a lot of history with Emma’s family.  He is also a major bad boy and mob hit man.  Emma is sweet and naive in the beginning but she grows and changes into a real partner for Carter.  There are conflicts because Carter is so alpha macho and wants to protect Emma.   Emma knows she is beyond the person who can be left out.  She is fully aware of the danger that is on her doorstep and she is determined to help Carter.

"He would do that to make sure the woman he loves is safe."
"And I would do the same for you."

The story is faced paced and full of action from the first page.  I recommend Carter Reed to anyone who likes a good bad boy, romance, and a mob theme.  Carter Reed can be read as a standalone (and has a very satisfying ending).  There is a new book Carter Reed 2 that expands on Carter and Emma's relationship.

Stay tuned for my review for Carter Reed 2. Tijan gave us an update on Carter and Emma with the release of Carter Reed 2.  I started reading yesterday and very happy with the story thus far.

5 STAMPS

I didn't begin writing until after undergraduate college. There'd been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can't blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I'm hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.
