Envy is a silent, cold-blooded killer, extinguishing a little more life from me every day.

Hitting sharp, fast and seemingly out of nowhere; struck by lightning not a storm cloud in sight... in she rolls. Reece Madison, a force to be reckoned with, head of the class- which means one thing- she's out of mine.

"You're wasting your time Rhett Foster. Locks have keys and walls can be climbed. I'm not buying your cold, skeptical act for one minute."

And then there's that...

But as much as she compels me to open up, show her what no one else gets to see…there’s guilty shadows lurking in the depths of her eyes that she cannot hide.

It always happens the same way, every time. The second I finish coming, the blip of exhilaration dissipates, and I’m left feeling vapid and angry. I turn my back on my latest conquest and, blocking out the images of insincere, physical satiation, I scurry off like a criminal. Maybe I should quit fucking them.

Or maybe I shouldn’t. The tête-à-têtes, and unrequited clinginess as much their fault as my own—more in fact, if everyone’s being honest with themselves. I tell them, straight up, in plain English, no “code” or sidestepping what I’m really saying, that it’s one fuck. I offer absolutely nothing more, and they accept. But women have a specific order and purpose to everything they do. It shouldn’t eat at me when another woman discovers her plan didn’t work, and surprise, she isn’t the one “different” enough to change me.

You want to be the lady worthy of a call the next day, flowers, a ring? Then don’t ride the dick until you get at least one of them. And if you do jump on—gyrating and grinding in what you’re just certain is some mystical, “He’s never had it so good before” kind of way, and it doesn’t work—don’t blame anyone but yourself. Who was really trying to manipulate who?

OMG I was so excited to hear that Rhett Foster was getting his own book.  I loved him in Pretty Instinct and basically loved that whole book but to find out he was coming to my kindle just made me giddy happy.

Rhett though is a bit of a moody guy, he loves the ladies and makes no promises to women that he will change, he loves his music, his writing but his mood swings would make me even think I was watching a tennis match.  Rhett is also extremely loyal, loving, friendly and very very protective over the people whom he call family and who her cherishes.

Rhett however, did not count on meeting someone as sassy as Reece Kelly.  I fell in love with her smart mouth and sassy ways and how she just answered Rhett back.  Reece is downright hysterical at times with what comes out of her mouth.

Reece is a tiny girl at just 5ft but she has the whole package, she is amazingly clever, but also very self-conscious of what others think, mainly her father, and she strives for approval, again mainly from her father.  Reece is also amazingly loyal and loves her friend Landry like a sister and would do anything for her, which is why you can tell just by reading this book; Reece is the kind of friend everyone would want.
I loved how not only did we have Rhett but we also met up with Jarrett, Rhett’s younger brother whom is adorable.  Woman don’t stand a chance with Rhett and Jarrett around, these boys are just made for women LOL.

Rhett and Reece meet up due to Reece’s friend Landry, the way they meet is interesting and you have to read the book to find out.  If I put it in here, then that would spoil it for you all.  They are instantly attracted to each other, but they live in two different states.  Rhett at first cannot put his finger on it but there is just something about Reece that draw’s him and makes him feel he can trust her, share with her and be around her not like he has with any other woman.  He feels that she truly understands him which has not happened since Liz.

I loved how SE Hall gave these two the chemistry and it was so hot it was scorching, but she also made them friends first.  They had this mutual connection that they could build on first. I loved how past conversations from Rhett’s grandfather came into the book, giving him guidance and steering him in the right direction.

“Two things, boy, that’ll tell ya all you need to know.  First one is, make sure your door is locked when you get her settled in the car.  If she reaches over and unlocks it for you on her own, she cares- thoughtful and giving by nature.  That’s the girl you hold hands with, work for that first kiss, then keep working until she thinks you’re worthy of her forever.  And when you finally convince her, use every damn day to make sure she never changes her mind”

Rhett and Reece both have hang ups, secrets, and insecurities, how they get past them and deal with them is just amazing to read and is written so well you can tell how determined they are and how much they mean to each other.  I loved how yes they had these issues to deal with but they knew together they could deal with them and learn to trust and love each other.

What captured me the most of this book was that yes, you can read it as a standalone but I loved how SE Hall had all the other’s from Pretty Instinct make appearances throughout this book, to me it made it even more special than I imagined it would be.

This is an amazing story, of amazing people who deal with day to day insecurities, hang ups, issues that someone will be able to relate to.
