In the last six months, Ashley’s life has been one disappointment after another. She walked in on her boyfriend with another woman, leaving her needing a new place to live and a mountain of debt. As if that wasn’t enough, her ex convinces her that his infidelity is her fault for being unadventurous in bed.
Deep down Ashley has always had the desire to be wild but has been held back by her own insecurities. She’s desperate to break free, but she's fearful of how people will judge her if they know her inner desires. She wants nothing more than to lose herself in sex that pushes her to the limit, but she hasn’t found anyone she trusts enough to take her there until she meets Tanner.
Tanner doesn’t trust anyone outside of his inner circle easily. The infamous, media proclaimed playboy, quarterback is tired of people using him for money, connections and to get their fifteen minutes of fame. Determined to protect his image and himself, he makes sure to keep most people at arm’s length until Ashley is thrown into his life. He’s inexplicably drawn to her, and she needs his help in more than ways than one. But to help her, he’ll need to let her in.
There’s an immediate attraction and connection that neither can deny, but can both of them get past their inhibitions and find what they are looking for in each other or will everything backfire in their faces?
Kimberly is a stay at mom of four crazy beautiful children. She lives in New Jersey with her husband of ten years and enjoys every minute of her never dull life. She loves a good book that is impossible to put down and you will mostly likely find her reading in her downtime, unless of course, there is a football game on.
Inhibitions is her debut novel releasing February 20, 2015.
HOSTED BY:
4 BIG STAMPS
This is a really good debut novel by Kimberly Bracco.
Ashley and Tanner begin a relationship after Ashley boggles
an interview with Tanner. Tanner is a
quarterback Ashley is scheduled to interview him even though she doesn’t
normally do sports. During the interview Ashley allows her own
personal experience with a dirty, low down ex to influence her feelings towards
men especially Tanner.
The story grabs the reader quickly and then flows smoothly
from one chapter to the next. We see the
world of Ashley and Tanner through their eyes.
The chapters alternate between Ashley then Tanner’s point of view. This is one of my personal favorite
techniques because I don’t have to ask myself questions like “What the heck was
s/he thinking to do that?”
Tanner and Ashley are realistic characters and, for the most
part act like people in their age group.
I like that through most of the story Tanner and Ashley deal with their
issues head on. Yes there are rocky
roads for them to travel but they both work together and work through their
issues. Tanner is a great guy but he’s
not perfect. His character is
multidimensional and I’m still trying to figure him out.
I found myself a little confused sometimes with Ashley. She often appears to be a strong woman with
her head on straight. She is a little
shy and has some walls that keep her from getting close to people, specifically
men. Ashley is the kind of heroine I
like but then out of the blue she has these internal conversations where she
questions herself in a negative way. I
understand questioning decisions but her questions appear to be put downs. These little conversations with self makes me
question who the real Ashley is.
Finally the story ends with me very conflicted with Tanner. In the last few chapters I really want to
smack him upside the head. I realize now
that this is the tool that will carry the story over to another book but I don’t
like it. I’m disappointed that the
connecting story arc turns Tanner from this great guy to a jerk.
The steamy, sexy scenes are very well written. It is never gratuitous. These scenes are always appropriate for the
situation. I’m a fan of dirty talk
during sex and Tanner knows how to talk dirty.
I like the book even
though I’m not a fan of the cliffhanger. According to Ms. Bracco’s website the next book is expected to release
in the summer. Fortunately that is too long to wait. I don’t know how she
plans to make me care about Tanner again but I’m am anxiously waiting for the
next installment to Tanner and Ashley’s story with the hope that she can pull me back to the Tanner camp. .
