Throb is a pretty easy, enjoyable read. I like the premise of the story add to that a cast of
characters that pull me right into the mist of their joy and conflicts. Supplement that with some hot, passionate love
scenes and you have a good recipe for an entertaining reading session.
This story takes you smack dab in the middle of a successful
Hollywood production company for a behind the scenes look at what is involved
in the making of a reality TV show (both good and bad). Sprinkle in a backstage look at dueling
executives Cooper (the hard, working, favorite son) and Miles (the younger,
spendthrift, and jealous) both hot and sexy brothers.
Miles develops a reality show that is a cross between
Survivor and The Bachelor and it isn’t a surprise to Cooper that he over spends
and needs help right before the season premier.
What is a surprise to Cooper is one of the contestants is a woman he
recently met at a friendly poker game on the lot. Cooper is drawn to this woman and wants more
than a one night stand.
Kate is the female protagonist. She is attracted to Cooper but she signed a
contract to be on Miles’ new series Throb. The contract forbids her from getting
involved with anyone except the bachelor, Flynn. Kate can’t afford to get kicked off the show
because she needs the money that will go to the finalists or, better still, the
winner’s prize.
Flynn Beckham is the hot bachelor that gives Cooper a run
for his money. Flynn is a successful singer
and he wants to capture the heart of Kate.
Kate isn’t like the other contestants on the show. She is special and Flynn wants her…bad. Flynn is the perfect antagonist because the
reader can’t hate him even if you don’t root for him.
This is one of those books with the right amount of family
drama (good and bad), good hearted main characters, the black sheep brother, good
friends who rally around to help when needed and an angst filled climax. Oh yes and an epilogue to die for. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good bumpy
love story. Enjoy!
