Master...
Being that person, that man, is how I define myself, how I allow the
rest of the world to define me as well. And now, with a terrible loss
shredding me inside out and someone trying to destroy my family to
punish me, control is more important than ever. It is everything. It is
what I need. It is all I need. Or maybe I just need...her.

Belong to You is book 5 of the Inside Out
series. It continues Mark and Crystal’s
story. The book begins with Mark still
grieving over Rebecca’s death. Mark is
conflicted because he feels a strong emotional pull to Crystal. He wants to be The Master like he was with
Rebecca but Crystal won’t play. Mark is
also fearful that loving him will put her in danger.
The story is set in New York City. Mark returns home to help his mother deal
with fighting cancer. She is struggling
with the intense treatments and they are taking a toll on her. Crystal works for Dana (Mark’s mother) and they
are very close. Mark can’t push Crystal
away from Dana and therefore, will be in contact with her every day both at
work and at the hospital.
Mark and Crystal are two broken
people. We learn a lot about Crystal’s
past and what makes her tick. I love
this character. She is strong and knows
what she wants in life. She is
determined to make it on her own without her father pulling any strings. She has two over protected older brothers. They are sweet but irritating to her. As
much as they all try to interfere in Crystal’s life the reader can see it all
comes from love. I really like the
dynamic among her family members.
Mark is also loved by his parents. His biggest problem is trying to work out why
every relationship that he has ends badly.
It is this fear that keeps him fighting with Crystal. Crystal is exactly what he needs though and
she is determined to get him to face his past and move forward.
There is a lot of tension and angst in this
book because Mark is still under suspicion for Rebecca’s death. Ava, who confessed in a previous book,
withdrew her confession and escaped from prison. Mark knows that as long as she is free Ava
is a danger to him and the people he loves.
There are some really tense moments that are well written and keep the
reader on the edge of their seat.
I really like this series. I like Ms. Jones’ writing style and the way
she weaves a lot of twists and turns into the story. My only negative comment is that there are
still too many questions left unanswered.
This is the 5th book in the series; add to that the ancillary
books (Rebecca’s journal and alternate POV books for a total of 10 books to
date) there should be closure at this point in my opinion.
All in all I recommend this book, and the
entire series. It is a great romantic
thriller.
