Synopsis:
Lisa Jenson is an accomplished attorney who gets what she wants in an out of the courtroom. At least she did, until she met Chad Foster. Her best friend insists that Chad is actually a great guy, but Lisa's instincts force her to keep her distance. When Lisa finds herself on a plane bound for an island honeymoon with none other than the Chad Foster, she has to change her tactics.
Chad Foster is an up and coming landscape architect who understands women. He knows that Lisa will come around and when she does he is patiently waiting on her. Chad anticipated the sparks they would set off in the bedroom but he did not anticipate falling in love.

This is a sweet story that is an easy read
about a young couple (Lisa and Chad) who aren’t really crazy about each
other. In fact they seem to hate each
other. The only thing they have in
common is their best friends Sam and Luke.
Sam and Luke are getting married and asked Lisa to be the maid of honor
and Chad to be the best man.
Unfortunately
their wedding day is a disaster; everything that could go wrong did go
wrong. Lisa and Chad put their dislike
aside and work together to help their friends out and try to save their special
day. For a short time Lisa and Chad
thought they were fairly successful and then Sam collapses and is rushed to the
hospital.
This unfortunate medical emergency has Sam
wondering what to do about her honeymoon trip that has a no refund clause. Sam wants her friend Lisa (a major
workaholic) to unwind and enjoy the Caribbean.
Unbeknownst to Sam Luke is making the same offer to Chad.
From the time these two meet on the plane
the reader knows that they are going to have an interesting adventure. I really like these two characters. They both have a lot going for them. Lisa is a successful attorney who is very
competitive and wins more than she loses.
Chad is building his landscaping business and working very hard to make
it a success. Lisa comes from a
dysfunctional family and Chad comes from a tight knit family.
He puts family above everything. I love Chad’s family especially his mom. She
is a major sweetheart.
I like the fast pace of the book. It is an easy read with a lot packed into
it. I didn’t realize that Honeymoons are
Overrated is the second book in Thomas’ series Finding Home.
The characters in this book were in the
previous book but it isn’t necessary to read Ball in Hand to enjoy this
book. I didn’t feel that I missed
anything by reading this book as a standalone novel.
I didn’t care for the sudden appearance of Lisa’s
long lost sister Kaitlin. I understand
the purpose of this character to the story.
She was the catalyst to stirring up problems for Lisa. She also allowed us a glimpse into Lisa’s
younger years but she suddenly disappears and it seems to me that storyline
didn’t work well. I can’t explain it but Lisa waited too long to confront
her.
I knew what was going to happen but then
Kaitlin’s story didn’t wrap up nicely for me.
I wanted another meeting with Lisa, Chad, Kaitlin and Lisa’s dad.
All in all Honeymoons are Overrated is a
light romantic story that makes the reader feel good. I recommend it.
