I am honoured to introduce to you all to the lovely author L.D Davis.
I first came across L.D Davis's writing by a friend who had read the Accidently On Purpose book and loved it so much the shared their love with me and I am so grateful to that friend as I never would have read these amazing books and got to know this awesome author.
L.D Davis put's her heart and soul into everything she writes, you can tell how much pride she has with her books when you read them. They are written with care but also in a way that captivates the audience.
I was lucky enough to do an interview with L.D Davis after she released Girl Code her latest book and I am happy to share that and all of her books with you today.
LD,
Have you ever thought while writing your books and especially the latest one,
Girl Code, OMG this could easily by about ???????? (one of your friends) and if
so how do you feel about that and would you tell your friend.
Ummm….LoL *shifts uncomfortably* It could be about a
few people I know. Hell, it can be about me – okay maybe not to the extent of
Tabitha’s and Leo’s relationship, but okay, yes. I’ve broken the code before.
Do
you sometimes start a book then half way through think NO this is not going to
happen?
Unfortunately, yes!
If
that happened would you try and incorporate part of the plot into another
storyline.
No. I put it into a file as a bad edition and start
again until I get it right.
Did
you always want to be a writer?
For as long as I can remember!
Who
is you dream cast?
Oh, I hate these questions because I can never
really think of an actor or actress to portray my characters. It’s been nearly
three years since I wrote my first book and I still don’t know who I would use
for those characters.
How
old were you when you started writing??? And what made you start???
I tell people I started writing as soon as I
learned how to create sentences, but I suppose I started to really write
stories when I was about eleven or twelve. I finished my first novella when I
was only 13. I stayed up all night writing it, sucking on a 2liter Pepsi. In
the morning I was absolutely wired and my mom thought I was on drugs!
What
inspired you to write The Accidently On Purpose Series and then the follow up
books
AOP just came to me one night. I think maybe I was
thinking of a real life situation with an old boss and it developed from there.
Nothing like THIS happened with that boss, but little things make seedlings
grow in my head. As for the follow up books, I started to write Kyle’s story at
first because it seemed to be what everyone else wanted, but as I really begin
to get into it, I REALLY wanted it. I really wanted to see his side of things.
Despite his actions, he wasn’t a monster to me. Then of course I had to tell
Luke’s side of things. He was the one that got screwed over the most. I
couldn’t leave him out. Donya’s spinoff was purely accidental. I had no
intentions of doing it, and then when an idea sprouted, I had only intended for
it to be a novella. 505 pages later……As for Tabitha, her story was always first
– her’s and Mayson’s. I started their stories probably in 2009ish, three years
before AOP came to be.
Where
did you come up with your ideas for this series?
*Shrug* Can’t pinpoint exactly. I just write when I
feel the need to write!
How
do you get your mind to go where it needs to, to write such an amazing story?
My mind is usually already there. I have an
overactive imagination and there is always dialog and ideas floating through my
head.
In
all your books, do you have a favourite character in each and what is it about
them that makes your eyes light up.
AOP – Kyle, because well…he’s Kyle. He’s broody,
misunderstood, possessive, kinda sad, and pathetic, but hot, sexy, and
demanding.
Worthy of Redemption – Lily! She’s terribly flawed
and in some ways super insecure. At the same time, she is a total little ass
kicker AND she can mix drinks. Who couldn’t love her?
Worth the Fight – Vivian Deluca! She’s a small
character in the book, but I LOVE LOVELOVE her. She’s tenacious and brutal and
takes no prisoners, but she’s also soft and sexy.
Tethered – Fred Grayne, Emmy’s father. He took
Donya in as his own kid – in fact she was his favourite, and he was kind but
firm and set her and Emmet straight when they needed to be set straight.
Girl Code – Leo! He never truly gave up on Tabitha.
He’s smart, sexy, and that Italian – woo goodness!
Pieces of Rhys – Lindsey, of course. Some people
judge me on that story pretty harshly, but I don’t really care what they say.
She was in an abusive relationship and she came out of it a stronger person.
She coped the best way she knew how – with humour and an obsession of her
co-worker. Some people don’t feel that she behaved how an abused woman should
behave, but they probably shouldn’t judge without knowing my own background,
and not everyone behaves the same. When they judge Lindsey for her behaviour, I
take it very personally because I feel like they’re judging me for how I behave
after a horrific relationship. Yeah, okay, so I’m a little bitter!
What's
your favorite genre to read? Who are your favorite authors?
Believe
it or not, I don’t read much in my own genre. For the past year or so I’ve been
hooked on YA fantasy or paranormal or dystopian novels. Some of my favourites
are: The Shatter Me series by TaherehMafi, The Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout, and I
loved the Delirium series by Lauren Oliver. However, my most favourite series
right now, the series I can read or listen to over and over is the Fever series
by Karen M. Moning. The next instalment comes out in January! Sooo excited! But
when I do read books in my genre, I have certain authors I will always one
click for without question: Jennifer Probst, RL Mathewson, and Sydney Landon.
What
person in your life makes the most impact his/her opinions of your books?
Hmm….that changes…...Not always the same person….
How
did you get any sleep at night with all of these characters swirling around in
your head??
Sleep? What are you talking about? I don’t sleep.
How
on earth do you find the time to write?
I seriously have been known to write while trying
to cook dinner, help a 1st grader with her homework, and listen to
teenagers tell me ridiculously stupid stories and try to show me ridiculously
stupid Youtube videos.
Has
anything in any of your books come close to happening to you?
Yes. Maybe all of the books have some of my life in
them…..
How
has the writing & success of these books changed your life?
I’m busier now more than ever, but sometimes it’s
hard to convince people that what I do is an actual real job and not a hobby,
that it actually puts food on the table and pays bills.
Will
we hear more of any of the characters in your Accidently On Purpose Series.
Mayson for sure next year, and maybe a novella for
Marco Mangini, but then I’m DONE.
What
are 3 things fans don't know about the books?
1
Tabitha’s book was always supposed to be first.
2.
It took me a year to write Kyle’s book because I kept getting stuck at one
part. Eventually, I trashed it and started over and it worked out perfectly.
3.
Aop was gritty, and the rest weren’t as gritty, but the truth is that outside
of these characters, I can write some pretty gritty things….
How
did you come up with the names for the series?
No special way. LoLThe character names just came to
mind, and usually my fans or friends helped me with the other names.
Where
is your favorite place to write?
Anywhere
with a clear ocean view!
If
you were approached to have your books put to film or TV what would you prefer
and why
Honestly, I think I would choose TV, because I feel
you can do a little more with TV. A mini series opposed to just two hours, or
an entire series can cover just one book, seriously.
So what is next for you?
I’m wrapping up a rocker book that I really like. I really
like it, but I think the best thing I’ve ever written will follow after that,
and I can’t say much about it just yet. It’s hot, like erotic hot, and gritty.
I like gritty :)
I hope you all have a better insight into this wonderful author.

Worth the Fight is the third book in the Accidentally on Purpose series. In Accidentally on Purpose, Emmy Grayne broke Luke Kessler's heart in a devastating love triangle.
When Emmy returns with a life-altering secret, Luke tries to make room in his life for Emmy. The reunion is not easy, and Luke is still very bitter about what Emmy did to him. Luke and Emmy struggle to find a happy ending together. The demons of their past threaten their present and future, and mistakes are made that could ruin them forever. How much is too much to fight for? Is there a time to give up or is Luke and Emmy's relationship worth the fight?
“You were born to be mine and I was born to be yours.”
Donya Stewart’s chest filled with the soft beating wings of butterflies when she first met Emmet Grayne’s green eyes at the ripe age of five. Unable to identify the tugging pressure within her when in his presence, Donya moved through the first several years of her life addled by her feelings for the boy who was her best friend’s brother, and very much like her own sibling. But one cool autumn night in her mystifying teenage years, Emmet erases any ideas Donya has of him being anything like a sibling.
Donya and Emmet, unable to deny the invisible cord that fetters them together on an incredibly visceral level, begin a long journey on a road abounding with challenges, hurdles, and destructive forces. Their love for one another is absolute, and the emotional link between them is strong, but when they make a series of painful decisions and mistakes that pull them apart, the strength of that tether is challenged.
Donya’s career as a model took her around the world and away from Emmet who was working hard for his law degree. When Donya makes a hard decision for both of them, the tether between them stretches beyond what seems possible.
“The tether contorted and quivered and groaned in protest.”
With age comes maturity and hindsight. Will Emmet and Donya have to live apart and with the consequences of their choices? Happy endings aren’t always a guarantee, even for two people who were born into this world for each other. Will the link between them bring them together or prove to ensnare them in heartache?
If you are in search of an angst-filled romance novel, get tied into Tethered…
When Tabitha and her best friend Leslie were young, they made a pact to never get involved with the same guy. That wasn’t a problem for Tabitha, especially as far as Leo Pesciano was concerned. Tabitha hated the guy. It didn’t matter that he was good looking and all of the other girls drooled over him, and Leslie had a big crush on him. He was obnoxious and loved to rile Tabitha up; but when she is faced with life-altering challenges, Leo becomes her protector and her friend.
There is a strong chemistry between them that Tabitha tries very hard to ignore, but Leo doesn’t make it easy. After an explosive end to their friendship during their college years, more than nine years later they are reunited and Tabitha is again resistant to the attraction she feels to Leo.
Time, distance, and new lives have come between Leslie and Tabitha over the years, and they rarely speak or see each other, but Tabitha tries to uphold the girl code they created when they were children. Her loyalty to her old friend is admirable, but will this same loyalty destroy her chance with the man who just may be the love of her life?
