***REVIEW*** Relentless Rhythm by Michelle Mankin

The one she really wants is out of reach.

The one he really needs is already taken.

Dizzy Lowell, rhythm man for the rising rock band Tempest is a wizard on the guitar and a wonder with women. But the hookup specialist hides his emotional scars beneath his suave exterior. He never lets anyone truly touch him.

April Reynolds, the confident bartender of the Diamond Mine, knows her way around a cocktail, but Dizzy has her all mixed up. She knows what's safe. She's tired of settling, though. It would be so easy to fall under his spell.

Except for that ring around her finger.

Two searching souls separated by a thin metal band.

Some dreams are dangerous.

Some secrets shouldn't be shared.

Sometimes what we wish for most can never be.

The fourth book in the Tempest Series

Dizzy Lowell, Rhythm guitarist for the band and Lace’s Brother.  He gets to know April at a bar and the attraction to her is instant.  There is just something about her that makes Dizzy want to know more but at what cost.

April is a complex woman; she hides her pain underneath her smiles at the Bar.  In a marriage that is not only detrimental to her health but loveless she wants nothing more but to escape.  Who can she turn to, she cannot tell her mother as she has too much on her plate as it is so she is lost and alone and my heart went out to her on so many levels.

I loved this from April

I was going to get what I wanted for a change. Just this one little thing. "Kiss me. Please." I tilted my head back, peering directly into his gleaming eyes through my lowered lids. "I wanna know if the rumors I've heard about you are true."

What a dangerous web we weave when we first deceive, this kept going through my head when April and Dizzy start something that neither of them know how it will end.  The deception to everyone around them including Mel the best friend kept me on edge wondering if they would get caught or not.

April’s husband has no idea at this point and I must admit I did not understand how he couldn’t, but then he has his own agenda and things on his plate he needs to deal with, including illegal business dealings with people no one wants to associate with.

April feels as if her whole life is spinning out of control but can Dizzy free her from this, can he stop the abuse he thinks her husband is inflicting on her?

I was with Dizzy in trying to figure out why April stayed with James as sure as hell I would be out of there like a shot.

"Why do you stay with him?" I laid it all out there. "You don't love him, and you're obviously afraid of him. How does that even work?"

April is so torn at this point, she feels dejected and worthless but all she wants is Dizzy and to forget her husband, to wish for a life away from him and what he does to her.

Just when you think things could not get worse for April, James rears his ugly head and April starts to doubt Dizzy and her connection with him.  Dizzy is left not knowing what is going on but he can’t get April out of his head, he tries but he just can’t get her out of his system she has got to him bad.

Through this whole interaction I kept wondering what James had planned next if he found April and Dizzy together, what would he do and could Dizzy and April deal with it and get past it and be together or will it fall apart for them.

You will have to read the book to find out………….

There is an element of Danger in this book but there is plenty of steam as well.
The heat between them is like a flame that never goes out.

Michelle Mankin is the author of the Black Cat Records series of novels.
Romance with subtext.
Reimagining classic stories with sexy rock stars and thought provoking issues.

For many years she worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter. Somehow, the boredom didn't kill her but the hour and hours of looking at facts and figures provided ample time for her mind to wander.
Black Cat Records in Vancouver provides the central backdrop for all of Michelle's current novels. Love Evolution, Love Revolution, and Love Resolution are a Brutal Strength centered trilogy, combining the plot underpinnings of Shakespeare with the drama, excitement, and indisputable sexiness of the rock 'n roll industry.

Things take a bit of an edgier, once upon a time turn with the Tempest series. These pierced, tatted, and troubled Seattle rockers are young and on the cusp of making it big, but with serious obstacles to overcome that may prevent them from ever getting there.
When Michelle is not prowling the streets of her Texas town listening to her rock music much too loud, she is putting her daydreams down on paper or traveling the world with her family and friends, sometimes for real, and sometimes just for pretend as she takes the children to school and back.
