Dark desires…Deadly secrets…Devious deceptions…Nothing is exactly as it seems in INSIDIOUS, the new erotic thriller from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author ALEATHA ROMIG!
When a powerful man is willing to risk everything for his own satisfaction, only one woman can beat him at his own game: his wife. Or so she thinks…
“Let’s start with you calling me Stewart. Formalities seem unnecessary.”
Stewart Harrington is rich, gorgeous, and one of the most powerful men in Miami. He always gets what he wants. Anything is available to him for the right price.
Even me.
Being the wife of a mogul comes with all the perks, but being Mrs. Stewart Harrington comes with a few special requirements. I’ve learned to keep a part of myself locked away as my husband watches me submit to his needs. But the more he demands of me, the more beguiled he becomes and that’s to my advantage. So I keep fulfilling his fantasies and following his rules because he doesn’t know that what he’s playing is really my game. And winning is everything, right?
INSIDIOUS is a stand-alone novel and the first Tales from the Dark Side title by ALEATHA ROMIG.
I was so excited to be given the opportunity to read this
book as an ARC for an honest review.
So what can I tell you?
I have never hidden the fact that I love Aleatha’s writing
and her Consequences Series to me was amazing so I am pleased to let you all
know that Insidious is Brilliant. The
writing, intrigue, complexities not to mention all the twists and turns will
have you riveted to your seat reading until your eye’s cannot focus anymore.
What amazed me about this book is that not only are you
drawn in from the prologue, but you are kept in that suspense all the way
through. I watch a lot of crime shows
and dramas and always try to work things out before the end to see if I am
correct and I must admit while reading I was forever analysing things and
thinking one thing then the next chapter my theory was either blown away or completely
thinking in the wrong direction. I loved
how this story captures you and makes you think, it is not just a
straightforward story. I felt at times I
had to be just as calculating in my mind as the characters to truly understand
what they are feeling.
The prominent characters are Victoria & Stewart
Victoria – Beautiful, Stunning woman. She has had such a hard
upbringing and never felt wanted finds herself in a situation where she is
expected to fulfil an obligation, she does not like this but goes along to
appease everyone.
Stewart – Multi billionaire older man, Victoria’s husband. This man has a dark side, he knows what he
wants and he gets what he wants no matter whom or what gets in his way.
Victoria feels more like an asset to him a commodity, she never feels that
there is any love from this man to her.
She feels used and abused by him.
As the story unfolds you see Victoria falling for Attorney
Brody Philips, he is kind and loving to her and she finds herself attracted to
him the more they see each other and thinks he genuinely cares for her. They have to be careful though as they do not
want Victoria’s husband finding out.
‘He brushed my cheek with the back of his
hand’ “What I want more than anything is to make love to you, to hold you, to
watch you sleep, and be there when you wake.
I want to love you so hard that when those beautiful eyes are closed, I
have no doubt that you’re dreaming about me.
And when you wake, I want to be the one to make every one of your dreams
come true”
Brody tries to show Victoria how much she means to him but
in just one thought you can see how unhappy Victoria is at the way she feels
about herself “Maybe
my heart wasn’t shielded; maybe it was dead? Then again, can an organ ache if
it no longer existed?”
Victoria is put in situations she hates, but to protect
others she must comply and I must admit I felt for her here my heart did go out
for her at parts of the book like this part “ The
reality struck: I was death, slow and insidious. I killed everything around me. That is what
I’d been told since before I could remember.
My mother had been right, I shouldn’t have been born. Now, karma was
paying me back. Just when I had the promise of love and a normal life, it was
snatched away”
With words like this you have to feel for Victoria, and
praise Aleatha for the amazing writing.
I loved how throughout this story you are questioning what
you are reading, you are constantly thinking, guessing and in my case second
guessing and making myself go round and round in circles trying to figure out
what would happen next, the next move, the next situation. It never turned out how I had thought and I
loved it.
I loved how this book was not all dark there were lighter
moments, the sex was amazingly HOT and Aleatha did a brilliant job, very
descriptive, I also loved how there was humour, there was genuine affection and
connections, there was even acceptance and forgiveness in parts and that is
what made me love this story so much, Aleatha had everything in there.
Right up to the end of this book you are fixated with
wanting to know more, what was around the corner for these characters? I was fixated with this book. I would love to write more but I know if I
did I would give too much away and we don’t want that.
If this is anything to go by Tales From The Dark
Side by Aleatha I say
BRING IT ON I WANT MORE.
