After eight years in prison, twenty-four year old Jordan Kane is the man everyone loves to hate.
Forced to return to his hometown while on parole, Jordan soon learns that this small town hasn't changed since he was carted off to juvie all those years ago. He is the local pariah, shunned by everyone, including his own parents. But their hatred of him doesn't even come close to the loathing he feels every time he looks in the mirror.
Working odd jobs for the preacher lady, Jordan bides his time before he can leave this backwards town. But can distance erase the memories that haunt him? Trapped in the prison of his own mind Jordan wonders if the pain of living will ever subside?
Torrey Delaney is new in town and certainly doesn't behave in a way the locals believe a preacher’s daughter should. Her reputation for casual hook-ups and meaningless sex is the talk of the town. Add that to her budding friendship with the hardened ex-con handyman, and the good Reverend is less than thrilled with her estranged daughter’s path.
As friendship forms, is it possible for two damaged people who are afraid to love take their relationship to the next level? Can Torrey live with Jordan’s demons, and can Jordan break through Torrey’s walls? With the disapproval of a small town weighing heavily on them, will they find their place in the world? Can they struggle against the odds, or will their world be viciously shattered?

I loved this!!
Jane is certainly an amazing story teller. Its like she wraps her words around you until the last one and you live in the story with the characters.
After 8 years in prison, Jordan is lost and confused. He has no idea how to deal with life on the outside as he has been banged up for 8 years. On top of all that he feels unworthy of the freedom and punishes himself for his misdemeanor every second of every day. I felt his pain. I felt his anguish and I wanted to wrap him up in a big hug and never let him go. A truly lovable character that had just been dealt shit cards at every hand. He is also pretty damn hot...with tattoos. But one of the most endearing things about his character is that he has no idea just how cute he is. He is wounded, that's for sure. He needs a second chance at life and someone to love him. But, this doesn't make him weak in the slightest. In fact, Jane writes him so well that he oozes inner strength, he just doesn't know it yet. There are many occasions where we see a dominant side to him and it makes it off the charts hot!
"Fast, slow, hard, soft-I want it all with you, Torrey. I can't imagine not wantin' you. Ever."
Torrey Delaney is not your regular sweet, church going preachers daughter. She is tough, outspoken, and has no filter whatsoever. She is a no messin' type of girl and I bloody well loved her too. She's a free spirit, that doesn't believe in the sanctity of marriage as the marriage she witnessed between her parents was most certainly not a positive one. Deep down i could see that she really wanted to believe in it but she just couldn't. She makes no apologies for her ways or her words. She is what she is and if you don't like it, then get lost! Her fierce belief in Jordan is what brought him through the dark times and their connection is just beautiful.
I felt as if i'd been in a dark cave for years and she was the sun exploding around me. She'd stripped away every layer of skin and poured her kindness and compassion inside my body, healing me from the inside out.
There was not a part in this book where i could predict what was going to happen next. I had no idea how it was going to end or where the journey was going to take them but I loved every minute of it. The epilogue warmed my heart too. Also, for just a fraction of a second there, I thought Jane was going to crack the Ice Queen! I felt my throat close over a little and my eyes started to sting, so i'm pretty happy to say that it could well be very emotional for you.
They both discover a love they never knew could exist. Their families make quite a few self discoveries along the way too, and I completed the book feeling satisfied that everyone in their fictional story would lead their lives differently because of it!
I was with Jordan Kane and always would be. he was my life, my forever, 'til death do us part. And maybe not even then.
Jane's writing flows beautifully. It's so easy to get swept away by it. It's cleverly simplistic but in no means, simple. Beautifully detailed but not painfully elaborate. Just a perfect balance, making for a very good read. Jane is on my list of 'GO TO without needing to even read the blurb' authors!!

I started writing contemporary romance two years ago. Before that, I didn’t think I could write a sex scene. Turns out I can!
My lucky number is 13 because I was born on the 13th and live near a haunted castle by the ocean. My number one past-time is watching hot surfers get changed into (and out of) their wetsuits.
My husband doesn’t read my books. My mother does.
Writing is my love, my hobby, my total addiction. All my characters are important to me and whisper their stories, even when I’ve finished writing their books. That’s why you’ll often find bonus chapters/out-takes from various books, because those voices just won’t be quiet.
