Jade C. Jamison Author Week

FAN INTERVIEW

What is your favorite series to write for?I can’t really choose a favorite. I like all my series, and I write them when I feel drawn to them if that makes any sense.

Who is your all time favorite band?
That’s like asking me to choose a favorite child. I have favorites, but it’s more who’s my favorite at the moment, because it changes. I’ve been on a huge Asking Alexandria bender since I bought their new CD in August (From Death to Destiny). I have yet to really get hardcore into the new Korn and Alter Bridge CDs because of that, but their time is coming soon.

Do you have a Muse? if so who or what is it?

My muse is the kind of muse Stephen King describes. It’s actually a part of me, I’m sure, but it’s like a driving force. It’s like a little angel (or devil, as it were) in the back of my brain conjuring up stories. It compels me to write, but she’s sometimes a bitch and I fight to get words on paper. Usually, though, she’s like the gas in my tank, and she keeps me rolling.

Do you ever think of writing a children's book? Since it is completely different than your normal genre :)
Actually, I have written a children’s book under another name.

Since you write so many different genres, Which is your favorite to write?
Depends on my mood. I love writing rock star books, but sometimes I prefer writing Nicki. Some things that will almost always be in my books, though—metal music; cursing; and sex.

What is your favorite book?Paradise, Toni Morrison

Do you listen to other types of music?
Hell, no. I’m a music snob. Every once in a while, I’ll hear something different and find it catchy, but I would die if I couldn’t listen to metal.

Where do you get your story ideas from? Do they come to you in dreams or real life experiences?
I have a vivid imagination. Once in a while, a dream might inspire an idea (that’s how Fabric of Night came about), but it’s usually a “what if?” idea. I wonder what might happen if…? And then I start writing. Most of the time, I have a loose idea of what the book will be about and it will develop as I write, so that keeps the process exciting for me as a writer. For example, the LSD scene in Bullet developed as I wrote it. I’d had no idea Kandy was going to be involved…until she was!

What inspired you to become a Author?I’ve been writing since I could put words on paper. It’s a compulsion, and I have literally been writing since I was a kid. I couldn’t not write.

What are you currently working on?
The next Nicki Sosebee book (Fake)…and sneaking in a little bit of Fully Automatic.

Where is your favorite place to write? In my recliner with my laptop.

Have you always known that you wanted to be a writer?Yep. Not that I wanted to be but that I was one.

Ethan make readers hate him at first but love him at the end. Why you choose the broken character like Ethan to be a hero?
Because there are Ethans in the world, just as there are Valeries. When I started writing Bullet, I knew I wanted to portray a toxic relationship, one in which the woman doesn’t know how to let go, where she believes in the man she loves so much that she risks everything. I rarely see the world in black and white, though. It’s often gray, and even though readers wanted to hate Ethan, I knew his past and what was going on with him, and he just wasn’t ready for a relationship, no matter how much Valerie loved him and wanted it to work. He had a dark valley he had to walk through. He had to forgive his father and himself before he could learn to love selflessly. He also had to deal with the mental illness plaguing him. Until he’d done those things, he wasn’t fit to be in a relationship. There are people like that in the world, and when you only see them from one side, it’s easy to judge and hate and misunderstand, but when you get to know them…it’s a little harder to hate.

AUTHOR BIO

Jade C. Jamison was born and raised in Colorado and has decided she likes it enough to stay forever. Jade's day job is teaching Creative Writing, but teaching doesn't stop her from doing a little writing herself.

Unfortunately, there's no one genre that quite fits her writing. Her work has been labeled romance, erotica, suspense, and women's fiction, and the latter is probably the safest and closest description. But you'll see that her writing doesn't quite fit any of those genres.

You'll have to discover Jade's writing for yourself to decide if you like it.
