**** REVIEW *** THREE, TWO, ONE by JA Huss

 ONE GIRL

Battered, barefoot, and huddled under a bookstore awning in the pouring rain, Blue only knows one thing. After fifteen months of captivity, finally… she is free.

TWO FRIENDS

Self-made millionaires JD and Ark are not out to save anyone when they stumble upon a wet and shivering girl one early Sunday morning. But when you sell sex for a living and salvation rings your bell… you answer the call.

THREE SOULMATES

After years of searching, love lifts the veil of darkness, and three people—with three very big secrets—find themselves bound together in a relationship that defies the odds.

Or does it?

Love. Lust. Sex.

This trinity might be perfection… but not everything should come in 3’s.

WARNING: This is a STANDALONE non-traditional M/F/M ROMANCE with a non-traditional ending.

HOLY. MOTHER. OF. GOD.  WHAT DID I JUST READ?

I’m sitting here in tears.  I never expected all the twists and turns that are in this story.  Neither did I expect it to leave me so emotionally drained.  And the ending….the ending….OMG!

It is important to stress that this novel is not for the faint of heart.   It is dark, full of suspense and erotic.  Let me emphasize again this is not a light, easy read but it is so worth your time.  Three, Two, One is written by JA Huss.  Enough said!  There isn’t any question that the story will not be a cookie cutter romance novel.   She is way too good for that.

When I first heard about Three, Two, One I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the book.  I’m so grateful that I was given this ARC for review.  Before I even read the first page I couldn’t wait to see where Julie planned to take us.

I need to be clear upfront that I am not a fan of ménage books, however I am a fan of JA Huss and the way she weaves a tale.  It is her story telling skills that pulls me to her books and I knew before the book’s release that this ménage would be unique and worth my time.  I’m not disappointed in the least.

Honestly, I don’t know where to start except to say you will find everything in 3,2,1--there are lies, twists and turns, ups and downs, deep dark personalities, erotic scenes that take my breath away and love.  Love comes in many different packages and there are different varieties of love here.  You get it all and from the very first sentence I could not put the book down.

The tale goes back and forth between Ark’s and Blue’s point of view.   We see the events unfold through their eyes and their eyes show us an unusual trio who evolve into a love that is perfect, for them at least.  The love affair doesn’t start out that way however.

For four years JD and Ark have worked to build a successful porn business.  It is legit—that’s what Ark keeps telling everyone.  The partners are upfront with the girls they film.  They have contracts, medical exams, agreements with the clubs and other locations where they film.  JD and Ark have a vision for the future and they don’t fight over women.  Until Blue!   Where women are concerned, whoever “sees her first” has the right of first refusal so to speak.  After the friends meet Blue Ark and JD fight about her on several occasions .  “I saw her first.  That’s the rule.  We’ve had it for years, and we’ve never broken that one rule.  Until today.”  Neither man can walk away from Blue.

Ark is in Denver to make his name in the porn industry.  He is a master behind the camera catching exactly the right angle of his subjects to make the film he wants.  Ark is an artist.  He is so successful that he makes millions in a few short years but he also has secrets.  He doesn’t have a high opinion of himself.  I’m not legit.  I’m nothing but a scammer.  A cheater.  A walking piece of shit.  And everything that has come out of my mouth for the past four years has been a lie.”    JD is his best friend.

JD is the actor.  He is perfect in front of the camera.  He has the looks the camera loves.  He has charisma.  He knows how to convince the girls that they want to be with him recording sex acts in public locations.  JD is also very troubled.  He has a painful past that often overwhelms his present.
My heart aches as his story unfolds.  At times I want to smack him upside his head.  Then there are times I want to hold him, rock him and let him know it will be ok.  And, like Blue, there are times when I just love him.

JD expects Ark to save him and make his past better but Ark isn’t sure he can.  I’m not a hero.  I’m the Prince of Porn.  I sell come down a girl’s throat.  I sell face fucks in public places.  I sell filthy videos that degrade women and use my friend’s cock to make money.  I’m not the hero he’s looking for.  I am scum.”

Blue is running from a terrible existence.  She knows the men who held her captive and treated her like trash.  She knows they will continue to look for her.  She knows they are evil.  She knows if they get her she won’t escape a second time.  She knows that Ark and JD will protect her but that is another kind of captivity for her.  There are things that Blue needs from both Ark and JD.  Each of these men give Blue what she needs physically and emotionally so she needs and loves them both.  “You like it hard or slow, Blue? He asks.  Both she whispers.  You like it rough or soft?  Both.  You like him or me?  Blue opens her eyes and looks first at me then back to him.  Both.”

Ark and JD try to get information from Blue about her captivity, about her past, about what she wants for her future but Blue doesn’t share very much.  Why should she?  Blue knows neither of these men she loves is being honest with her.  The little she does share with Ark worries him.  “I’m not sure which part of that conversation hurts the most.  The fact that she doesn’t trust herself to stay if she leaves.  The fact that she thinks of herself as a bird in a cage.  Or the fact that this is temporary and we both know it.  Love happens in twos.  There is no holy trinity of love."

Ms. Huss is a master at character development.  Her characters are so complex and not the person we think they are at the beginning of the story.  Her characters are real.  They have real flaws, real dreams and many layers that the reader must peel away to find out who they really are deep in their soul.

These three characters are all running from something and looking for something.  They all have secrets and with the turn of each page you know the secrets are going to do them in.  As the reader you don’t know who is good or who is bad.  With each new chapter you get a hint at what they each want but then in the next chapter you question if you have it right.  Regardless you can’t help but root for this crazy, unconventional relationship to work out.

It goes without saying that Ms. Huss is a fantastic writer.  In this book she once again takes the reader through so many ups and downs that my stomach was tied in knots and my heart was beating so fast that when I came to the story’s climax I was almost afraid to continue.  I was so afraid for these characters I literally held my breath because I didn’t know if I could take it.  What if I didn’t understand what happens next and how the story ends?   I understand though and I love it.

I highly recommend Three, Two, One.  The setting is different.  The story line is unique and unexpected.  It held me transfixed from beginning to end.  But for me, one of the things that made me so delighted is it is a standalone novel.  You will know the story from beginning to end.  There aren’t any cliffhangers or vague dates when the next book will be available.  In fact I can’t point to one thing that I would change about this novel.  There is nothing, absolutely nothing that I didn’t like.  I can’t say that anything is missing or I wish x, y or z didn’t happen.  Everything happens for a reason.  This book is just a great, great read.   You must get Three, Two, One and experience it.

Thanks Julie.
