Abandon by Cassia Leo ~ Blog Tour & Giveaway

This gritty spin-off of the New York Times bestselling Shattered Hearts Series follows mysterious and sexy Tristan as he attempts to abandon his demons in the name of love. This full-length novel can be read as a stand-alone or after Bring Me Home.

A steady stream of meaningless sex is all Tristan has left when he discovers the grandmother who raised him is dying and his best friend is getting married. He is lost; and the dark secrets in his past keep coming back to remind him of this.

Until Tristan has an idea that will change his life and fulfill his dying grandmother’s wishes: Abandon his playboy ways and settle down.

And who better to do it with than Senia, the girl who has occupied his thoughts since their scorching hot tryst in the back of his sports car. The girl who makes him laugh and feel like a kid again.

But when his world begins to crumble around him, the pain Tristan is hiding finds its way to the surface. Will Tristan finally learn to trust again? Or will he abandon Senia when she needs him the most?

What can I even say about this book?  I am absolutely in love with Tristan.  He came across as kind of a womanizing jerk in the Shattered Hearts series, but after learning his story I am completely head over heals for him.  I thought that I loved Chris, but Tristan has won my heart.  I have always harbored a soft spot for the broken boy and Tristan was able to fit that role to a 'T'.
"My only wish is that the ones I love never feel the need to abandon hope."
Tristan had a horrific childhood.  There were a few weeks that completely changed the make-up of who he is.  I was devastated by Tristan and the things that happened to him.  No one should ever have to experience what happened to him, especially at the hands of the person who should care most for them.  I am truly shocked that he was able to find a way to still be a functioning member of society, not many people would have.  Most of the credit for that went to his amazing Grandmother.  I absolutely loved her.  She was more than just a mother to Tristan, she was his rock.
"You can't stand in my grandmothers kitchen, in that apron, barking orders at me, carrying my child, and not expect me to want to touch you. You can't expect me to not feel like I have some... claim on you."
Tristan and Senia together were hilarious.  After all of the heavy of Tristan's past their interactions were a great source of comic relief.  I loved them together.  Tristan needed someone who was strong enough to handle him and call him on his shit and Senia was the perfect candidate.  Senia needed someone who was going to accept all of her idiosyncrasies and Tristan thrived on them.  They were each other's lobster.(If you don't get that reference click here.)
"I see the way you're looking at me.  You don't just want my golden egg.  You want the whole goose.  You.  Like.  Me."
The plot of this book was fairly fast moving.  Once I was able to read it in it's entirety there was no putting it down.  I needed to know what was going to happen next, to put all of the puzzle pieces of Tristan together and see him become whole.  Cassia was able to pull me in completely with her sensational writing.  I'm pretty sure that if she wrote the encyclopedia I'd read it front to back because I simply wouldn't be able to put it down.
"Then bare your f***-ing soul. Give her something that will only mean something to the two of you."
While you don't have to read the first three books in the Shattered Hearts story to understand Tristan and Senia's story I would strongly suggest you do.  There are glimpses, in Abandon, into the lives of the characters in the other books.  It will also help to give you some reference into the interactions of Tristan and Senia pre-Abandon.
"I can't promise that. What happened outside Yogurtland was one of the smartest mistakes I've made in a long time. I hope I get to make those kind of mistakes with you for... forever."

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

When I open my front door, I’m not surprised to see her in jeans. She thinks the extra clothing will deter me.

“Welcome to my not-so-humble abode.”

“This house is way too big for one person,” she says as she turns her back to me so I can take her coat.

I slip the coat off and hang it up in the coat closet as she glances around the foyer at the marble floors, the sweeping curved staircase, and the enormous industrial era chandelier.

“You want something to drink,” I ask as I take a few steps toward the kitchen, hoping she’ll follow me instead of standing there with her mouth agape.

“The only thing that’s missing in here is a ten-foot-tall self-portrait.”

“That’s in the study.”

She turns to me and purses her lips. “Exactly how rich are you?”

“I’m not rich. I’m wealthy.”

She sighs as she follows me into the kitchen. I open the refrigerator and pull out a bottle of water. When I turn around to hand it to her, she’s too busy admiring the glossy white cabinets to notice. I press the cold bottle against the back of her neck and she gasps as she steps aside.

“You bastard!” she cries. I chuckle as I hold the bottle out to her and she waits a moment before she takes it. “You’re a child. How the hell are you able to live here by yourself without setting the house on fire?”

“Baby, this house has been set on fire multiple times.”

“Ugh. You are such a player,” she groans, holding her hands out as I approach her. “Don’t touch me.”

“That won’t last long.”

“Are we talking about your erection?”

I chuckle as her hands press against my chest. “Your humor only turns me on even more.”

She pushes me hard and quickly scoots sideways to get away from me. “We need to talk,” she says as she scurries around the kitchen island and takes a seat at the breakfast bar with her bottle of water. “I’m scared shitless.”

“I can help you with that.”

“With what?” she whispers breathlessly as I stand behind the barstool and brush her ponytail aside.

“All of it. If you want to talk, we’ll talk.” I kiss the back of her neck and the plastic water bottle in her handle crackles as she tightens her grip.
